What appears to be one of the craziest engine swaps we’ve seen recently, is up for grabs at Craigslist. Seller is looking for $17,000, though, which might prove to be too big of an obstacle for most potential buyers. Yet, Citroën 2CV in general, isn’t as cheap as you might have guessed. Extremely rare in the U.S. in the first place, specimens in mint condition warrant heavy price tags that currently sit north of $30,000 on average. Even rusty units that can only boast by being in a working order, often go for more than $5,000.
This particular 2CV was assembled in 1967. Back then, it had a 425 cc flat-2 air-cooled engine capable of making some 16 horsepower. Right now, though, it’s likely the only Citroën 2CV in the world with early 70s Chevy small-block 360 cu in V8 under its hood. Engine capable of generating around 320 horses. Yeah, that’s 20 times the original power.
